Jericho Road receive essential funding boost

Eighteen community projects across Nottinghamshire are being given the chance to make a difference to public safety thanks to funding from the county’s Police and Crime Commissioner Paddy Tipping and that includes the Jericho Road Project.

The PCC has allocated £270,000 from his 2018/19 Community Safety Fund to support community-run projects which help people combat their problems, protect vulnerable people from violence, support the recovery of victims of crime and tackle hate crime and segregation.

A special celebration event was held at Nottingham Forest Football Club to congratulate those organisations which successfully applied for funding to expand their work and Sarah, our fund writer was invited to receive our cheque.

Mr Tipping said: “My idea of good policing continues to be focused on prevention, prevention, prevention. By putting ourselves in the shoes of the perpetrators and victims of crime we can start to unravel the problems which increase risk or vulnerability and take action to prevent it.

“I’ve been really impressed by the experience and positive work of these organisations here today. Competition for funding was strong however I’m confident our final selection will maximise our efforts to make Nottinghamshire safer and reduce the impact of crime and antisocial behaviour on our communities in the future.

“People often need help not punishment to lead better lives and overcome their problems. These grants will empower community-run organisations to deliver support where it’s needed most and by people who are compassionate, understanding and trained to intervene.”
